The play "Laughing Under Punches and Kicks" tells the story of Setareh, the main character, who strives to use laughter and humor to cope with life's challenges and social difficulties. This play, with its unique set design, tells a deep and human story that, through humor and personal narratives, addresses social issues such as punishment, inequality, and street harassment. Setareh has faced problems since childhood and, in this play, she decides to confront her struggles by laughing even in the toughest circumstances. Ultimately, she delivers a message to the audience: to overcome pain and suffering, one must embrace moments of laughter and vitality.At the beginning of this project, Varsa, as the design and branding team, faced the significant challenge of introducing and promoting a play with such a socially relevant and profound theme. The goal was to design the brand identity of the play in a unique and appealing way and to invite the audience to an engaging and impactful experience using modern advertising techniques.

In the logo design for the play "Laughing Under Punches and Kicks," Varsa used creative typography that simultaneously represented the internal tensions of the story while giving it a powerful visual identity. This logo, with its combination of words and striking color strokes, effectively conveyed the emotions of the characters and the tense atmosphere of the play, creating an attractive and unique visual identity for the project.

Use of CG techniques and special effects

In the play "Laughing Under Punches and Kicks," Varsa boldly used CG techniques to create teasers and introduce the characters. This technique is typically not used in the world of theater and was one of the unique features of this project that Varsa brought to life. In the promotional videos, the use of CG to design the actors' faces and create intricate visual effects was one of the most important aspects of the project. A notable example of this technique is the use of CG for the makeup and facial design of Elnaz Malek, one of the actors in the play, in the introduction videos. In these videos, Elnaz Malek begins speaking in front of a mirror, completely digitally created using CG, showcasing a fresh and bold visual effect. Additionally, this technique helped transform the play from a traditional, realistic presentation into a unique visual experience in the promotional videos.

Results and achievements

The results of this project were very positive. The use of bold and innovative techniques like CG in the advertising successfully captured a lot of attention and elevated the play to a new level both in terms of advertising and visual appeal. This modern approach, alongside the strong logo design and visual identity, led to increased audience awareness of the play and was met with significant enthusiasm from the audience, setting it apart from other plays in the world of theater advertising.The promotional teasers created using CG allowed the audience to not only experience the theater but also enjoy an engaging and unique visual experience. The play succeeded in combining innovation in design and advertising techniques, creating a powerful theatrical brand that left a lasting impression on the audience.
